TARDIS-LIKE SUZUKI IS A CAR TO FIT YOUR LIFE

The Suzuki Splash is a pleasure to drive.

ON THE ROAD
THE marketing team behind the launch of the new super-mini Suzuki Splash claim it Fits Your Life.
And after a weekend of driving it, it is safe to say the team have hit the nail on the head.
The Splash, available at
Hale Common Suzuki
, is compact and nippy, without compromising on space and driving comfort.
One of the first things I noticed was the Splash’s height — there’s no ducking to get into this motor.
Once inside, you realise this supermini is actually a Tardis, with acres of headroom and space in the front, comfort in the back and lots of hidden storage space.
The boot, on first glance, looks small, but comfortably takes seven or eight bags of food shopping (as my weekend visit to Tesco proved). But then I realised there was a hidden boot compartment where another eight bags would have squeezed in.
For the smaller things, a nifty hidden cupboard in the dashboard is the perfect place to stow sunglasses, small change, keys and mobile phones. And there is a special place for drinks bottles in the door pockets.
Driving the Splash is a pleasure, with solid handling, tight cornering, plenty of visibility and an excellent air-conditioning unit which was quiet, constant and kept the cab temperature at a perfect level.
The seats are quite high, which is great if you have children as putting them in the car won’t give you a hunched back.
Everything is in easy reach and handy controls on the steering wheel allow you to mute the stereo or find new channels, meaning you can keep concentration on the road.
On the technical side, the Splash comes in different varieties (1.2GLS, 1.2GLS+, an automatic 1.2GLS+ and a diesel, the 1.3 DDiS), with prices ranging from £8,999 to 10,449.
The model I drove, the GLS+ has a fuel consumption of 40.9mpg urban, 51.4mpg combined and carbon emissions of 131g/km. It has a maximum speed of 109mph and does 0-62mph in 12.3 seconds.
So if you are looking for a fun, nippy motor which Fits Your Life, better splash out on a Splash.
