CRASH MAN, 83, DIES IN HOSPITAL

AN ELDERLY Shanklin man involved in a car accident near Whippingham last week has died.
The 83-year-old man, still to be named, was the driver of a turquoise Volkswagen Golf which collided with a bollard on the A3054 between Lushington Hill and Park Road just before 5pm on Wednesday last week.
The man was treated at the scene by paramedics and was taken to St Mary’s Hospital, Newport, with serious injuries, but died in hospital on Monday.
The accident caused traffic chaos in all directions towards Ryde, Newport and East Cowes for more than two hours, police said.
Fire crews cleared up at the scene.
