DAVID ICKE STANDS IN BY-ELECTION
David Icke.
FORMER professional footballer and TV sports presenter David Icke is one 26 candidates standing in the Haltemprice and Howden by-election.
Mr Icke, of Ryde, admits he does not have “any chance of winning” the by-election, brought about by the surprise resignation of long-term MP David Davis a day after a vote on the extension of detention of terror suspects without charge.
Mr Icke, who is standing as an Independent under the title Big Brother - The Big Picture, says Mr Davis’s decision to call a contest on the subject of “Big Brother” is “far bigger than even he realises and unless we see the big picture of what is going on, nothing effective can be done to stop it”.
Mr Icke, named the third most eccentric star in the world in ithe BBC’s Homes and Antiques magazine survey in 2006, gave up sports presenting for the Green Party and then to write books.
He famously claimed on the Wogan chat show he was the son of God. His later work suggested those in power were alien lizard shape-shifters in human form.
