DRESSED TO THE NINES FOR PARTY TIME

AFTER a hectic exam schedule, Sandown High School students dumped their uniforms and donned their ballgowns and tuxedos for the annual prom night.
Around 150 Year 11 students descended on Northwood House, Cowes, for the event, the third of its kind held by the school.
Dressed in their finest, many students made an entrance by limousine, while a group of lads dressed as the Blues Brothers arrived in style, pulling up in a huge black Hummer truck.
As they arrived school staff served the students a non-alcoholic fizzy drink, before they all sat down to a slap-up meal of roast beef or chicken, followed by creme caramel or chocolate orange pudding.
Special touches included photographs of the students in their early days at Sandown High scattered across the tables and the presentation of a silver engraved coin to commemorate the event for every student.
After a vote on the night, Luke Saltmerris, 16, and Kiara Ives, 16, were crowned prom prince and princess, and a draw — with the prize being a refund of prom ticket money — was won by Ben Gregory.
All that was left after the presentations was to dance the night away to the rhythms of DJ Clarke until midnight.
Jane Chase, head of Blue House and prom organiser, said: “The evening was such a success. Staff were surrounded by mature, responsible young adults, who have spent the past three years working hard to achieve their potential at Sandown High School.
“Their conduct was exemplary and the evening’s entertainment was well deserved by every individual.
“This is the third year I have organised the prom. They have worked so hard and deserve it.”
