INQUEST OPENS INTO DEATH CRASH

By County Press Reporter - Thursday, May 15, 2008
AN inquest was opened into the death of a 75-year-old woman who died on Saturday, May 3, following a car crash the previous day.
Jean Elizabeth Rashley, of Blackgang Road, Niton, was driving home after seeing friends at Shanklin when her car crashed into a wall at Southford Lane, Whitwell.
She was taken to South-ampton General, where she died of multiple traumatic injuries.
Following reports Miss Rashley, who suffered from osteoporosis, diabetes and was profoundly deaf, was feeling unwell before she started to drive home, further inquiries are being carried out to determine if she lost consciousness before or after the crash.
Coroner John Matthews adjourned the inquest to a date to be fixed.
