ALL MOD CONS: Stephen and Julie Walden, left, bought this house in Grangeside, Bonchurch, with its entire contents, including the car in the garage. They are pictured with estate agent Larry Allen. Picture by Jenifer Burton.
ESTATE agent Larry Allen sold more than usual when he showed a Warwickshire couple around a Bonchurch house.
For Stephen and Julie Walden ended up buying the house and the entire contents, including the car in the garage.
The Waldens got more than they bargained for as they had only come to the Island for a holiday.
However, they had liked the properties in Grangeside for a long time and when they went on a viewing, they immediately decided they had found their perfect home for an eventual move to the Island.
Mrs Walden said: “We can’t believe it. It is like winning a prize. As soon as we stepped through the door, we knew it was perfect for us and it is unbelievable to end up with the lovely furniture and contents, even the garden ornaments.
“And we now have a Vauxhall Astra, too.”
It was the perfect arrangement, as the sellers had moved to Florida and had no need for the contents of the detached home.
Mr Allen, of O1 Estate Agents, in Ventnor, said: “As I was showing them round I thought, they love the furniture and the owners have no use for it. I asked them if it would entice them to buy the property and it sealed the deal.
“As a throwaway, the sellers said they might as well have the car in the garage, too.
“It is the first time I have ever sold anything that came with a car as well.”
The three-bedroom home was on the market for £325,000 but was sold for an undisclosed sum.
