WITH a wheelchair best suited to playing basketball, Cowes youngster Becky Coleman enjoyed great success at the Adidas London Mini Wheelchair Marathon on Sunday.
Held prior to the main Flora London Marathon, where thousands pounded the streets in aid of charity, Becky competed against other young wheelchair users to complete the 2.65-mile course around the main roads of London’s city centre.
The 16 year old, from Magdalen Crescent, came third among girls in her age group and raised around £60 for the Naomi House children’s hospice.
She finished the course alongside her team-mates at Hampshire Harriers.
Her mum, Sue, said: “She did really well for a first attempt. It was a fantastic day and she was so excited.
“We just want to say a big thank you to everyone who helped pay for her sports wheelchair, the Edgar Ralph Dore Trust, the IW Bridge Club and all the individuals who contributed.”
