MOUSE NOUS WITH HINTS OF GREEN

By Clare Wall - Friday, November 23, 2007
THE Footprint Trust has found a novel way to send out its eco-friendly message by putting it on mousemats.
Thanks to funding from EU Leader+ and the IW area of outstanding beauty sustainable development fund, the charity has been able to produce the mousemats and give them away free to all Island schools, libraries and help centres.
Made from recycled car tyres, the mousemats are seen as an alternative to leaflets as they are less likely to be discarded.
Ray Harrington-Vail, of the Footprint Trust, said: “These mats can sit by school and public computers and give details of useful websites on water, energy, waste, food-miles and transport issues. The aim of the mousemats is to help reduce the carbon footprint of the Island. If people follow some of the guidance given they can make a real impact on the planet and on their wallets.”
