SHARRON NEW FACE OF SQUADRON
This mermaid now draped on the rocks outside the Royal Yacht Squadron may look familiar to sports fans. The sculpture is modelled on Olympic medal-winning swimmer and TV presenter Sharron Davies, who unveiled it at a ceremony on Saturday.Picture by JENNIFER BURTON.
A MERMAID sculpture modelled on Olympic medal-winning swimmer and TV presenter Sharron Davies was presented to Royal Yacht Squadron members on Saturday.
The sculpture was presented by commodore, Lord Iliffe, to commemorate the completion of the haven, and in memory of Lord Grantham who, on June 1, 1815, presided over the first meeting of the club, and whose yacht was called Mermaid.
