SKATEPARK CASH

THE efforts of the Ventnor Skatepark Group have been rewarded with a grant of £570.
Ventnor Town Council decided at its meeting on Monday to make the donation after being impressed by the group.
Cllr Val Taylor said: “The park will be on a proper financial footing. This is the first time I have ever been confident about a skatepark group and the future of a skate park. They are being extremely practical about it.”
Several businesses, community groups and individuals joined forces to help save the seafront facility.
Community artists Eccleston George and Chale metalwork sculptor Dave Badman volunteered their services and IW bands, including The Bees, Jackson Analogue and Bastila are to make a fundraising CD.
