VENTNOR'S GC Giancovich has become England’s first professional beach soccer player.
The 26 year old has signed for Cervia to play in the Serie A League in Italy, the only professional beach soccer league in the world.

Only the most talented players are invited to compete and GC is likely to play alongside the likes of Brazilian greats Juninho and Danila to packed stadiums.
GC said: “It’s great. All my hard work has finally paid off. It has always been my target to go pro and finally I’ve made it so I’m very happy. Hopefully, it will open the door for other English players too.”
GC has been playing beach soccer for six years on the Island for Bees, and was called up for England in 2003. Last year he was made captain of the national side.
“I’m really looking forward to playing with the Brazilians and learning from all the best players. It should improve my game massively,” he added.
His first professional action will come in the Copa Italia Cup in Pisa.
• Meanwhile, the England side, whose squad is predominantly Island-based, travels to Benidorm today (Friday) for FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Estonia, Georgia and Portugal.
