FASTNET RACE POSTPONED

By Martin Neville - Saturday, August 11, 2007
THE start of the 2007 Rolex Fastnet Race has been postponed by 25 hours.
The first signal for the start will now sound at 11am on Monday. The fleet of 300 yachts had been due to set off from Cowes at 10am tomorrow (Sunday).
The decision comes in light of recent weather forecasts predicting severe gales affecting the southern and western coastal areas during Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Fastnet Race is a 608-mile race to the rocky lighthouse off the southern tip of Ireland, and then back to Plymouth.
