WROXALL ARE JUNIOR B CUP CHAMPIONS

By Clare Wall - Thursday, April 17, 2008
Wroxall were crowned IW Junior B Cup champions at St George's Park, Newport tonight (Thursday) after a 4-0 win over Arreton Athletic.
Wroxall's international band of players - including five Hungarians, a Nigerian and a Tunisian - overwhelmed Arreton and dominated most of the game.
Three goals came in the first half through Lee Simpkins, Richie Hilsum and Dan Carpenter, with Hilsum adding the fourth goal, and his second, minutes from the restart.
Arreton were unlucky with a couple of chances created by their No.10 Mike Parsons, whose first-half overhead kick from the edge of the box was deflected onto the bar, and later when he was wrongly judged offside.
After the match, Wroxall goalkeeper and captain Del Blake-Bevan said: "I am delighted with the players, they were fantastic, and I believe this is the first time Wroxall have done the double of the league and cup."
