DOUBLE DEFEAT ENDS SEASON
Thursday, March 20, 2008
Sport/Ice hockey
THE Wightlink Raiders ended their frustrating season with two league losses at Sheffield.
Finishing at the bottom of the English Premier League, the team lost 5-2 on Saturday and 9-4 on Sunday, in a disappointing double header.
In Saturday’s game netminder Toby Cooley was man of the match, having faced 61 shots.
Jason Coles said: “It has been a disappointing season. If we had strung together a couple of wins earlier in the season things would’ve been different. I think the team is gelling well and we have played some good hockey without getting a result. At times we showed we were capable of stringing some results together but we have also had quite a few problems with injury which meant we never had a full roster to choose from.”
