Island Games/Tennis
QUENTIN Sloper's brave bid for tennis glory in the men's singles came to a halt, just one game away from a medal today (Wednesday).
Having won through to the last eight in the morning, Sloper then met Jersey's veteran coach, Andy Evans. The experience told and Evans went through 6-2, 6-1.

SAILING

THE Island could be heading for a number of medals in the sailing, as they head for their final day of competition.
In the Laser standard rig, Andrew Talbot is lying second with just three races remaining on Friday.
Brother Richard has an outside chance of a medal as he is equal fourth, seven points adrift of the bronze.
Jim McMillan, in the radial rig, is fourth, just four points out of the medals, while team-mate Richard Gray is ninth.
Kyle Grant has had a tough week in the sailboarding and is currently 18th on 127 points.

SWIMMING
ThHE Island is still looking for its first medal in the swimming pool after another three finals tonight (Wednesday) failed to produce a podium finish.
Having won a swim-off to make first reserve in the 200m backstroke this morning, Andrew Teague was given a boost when a Jersey competitor dropped out to put the Islander into the final. He put in a brave bid but finished eighth in a time of two minutes 22.49 seconds.
Sam Tinson-Wood was our second finalist in the 100m freestyle. The 16-year-old, in his first Island Games, recorded another eighth in a time of 55.76 seconds.
The 400m medley relay squad of Teague (backstroke), Mikael Popov (breaststroke), Andrew Snellgrove (butterfly) and Tinson-Wood (freestyle) came home in 4.17.94 for seventh position.
