Farnborough 3, Sandown and Shanklin 29
THE Hurricanes celebrated the last league game of the season with an emphatic win when they travelled to old rivals Farnborough.

With a home advantage in the promotion play-offs at stake, this was an imp-ortant match. The Hurries started strongly, forcing the hosts to defend close in. Eventually Wightlink man of the match Ross Edmunds made a break across the field and down the wing and fed inside to captain Joe Rees to score a try, converted by Neil Buckingham.
The Islanders controlled the tight play and after one of numerous rolling mauls, Greg Dean scored a try to give Hurricanes a 12-0 interval lead.
Against the wind, Hurries defended well as the hosts pushed them back after the break with long field kicks. In the first visit to the hosts’ 22, Buckingham kicked to the corner and Matt Jones picked up to score.
The hosts kicked a penalty to reduce the arrears. The Hurricanes varied their play with close-in dominance and superb running lines with NatWest man of the match, lock Sam Rees, putting in a tremendous effort.
Centre Alan Morey evaded six tackles with some fancy swerving to score a try and Will Baxendale went over, with Buckingham converting to complete the scoring.
Hurricanes now play Old Alleynians, from Surrey, at home next Saturday, April 26, with a 3pm kick-off and are hoping for a huge crowd as they bid to return to the London League.
