Sport/Table tennisTHE Lawson brothers are almost certain to win the IW table tennis summer league after this week’s round of matches.
Scott and Jamie defeated Rookley Raccoons 5-0, giving them enough points to virtually put them out of reach of their rivals.
CPC Stooges remain firmly in second place after a 4-1 win over CPC Bears for whom Harry Metz, in a shock result, beat George Downing.
Roger Nevell produced another clean sheet for Ryde Eagles in their 5-0 win over CPC Phoenix.
All the other matches ended in 3-2 results.
Tigers beat Ravens in a Ryde local derby and St Lawrence Saints’ good form continued against CPC Hawks for whom Kevin Allen again won two but Saints won the rest.
CPC Dynamos looked set for a rare win as they led Ryde No-Hopers 2-0 but Ryde won the next three, while CPC Hawks won the battle against Warriors .
