RSS Feeds

News Feeds from the Isle of Wight County Press

RSS feeds allow you to see when websites have added new content. The IW County Press offers RSS feeds for the latest news, business news and sports news, showing you a preview of the most up-to-date content before you visit the site. If you want to view the whole story, click on the headline and it will go to iwcp.co.uk

There is some discussion as to what RSS stands for, but most people opt for ‘Really Simple Syndication’. The feeds are web pages designed to be read by computers rather than people.

To access the IW County Press RSS feeds you will need to use a feed reader. This piece of software checks the feeds and shows you any new articles that have been added. There are a variety of free feed readers available. Some are downloaded applications and others are accessed from your web browser. They are easy to find through any search engine.

Some browsers, including Safari and Firefox, will automatically check for RSS feeds when you visit a website, showing an RSS icon when they locate a feed.

To subscribe to the IW County Press RSS feed, find a feed reader to suit you, click on the RSS feed you want and bookmark it in the feed reader. You can then access the latest news at the click of a button.

You can also access RSS feeds on your mobile phone. Some mobiles have applications installed that will read feeds, but on other handsets you will need to download and install a reader. The best way to find an appropriate application is to search online for ‘RSS feed reader’ followed by the make of your phone.
