From Steve Newey, Shanklin:
In reply to letters last week about the randonnee and road users (CP, 11-04-18).
Firstly, as a motorcyclist we enjoy the ability to overtake stationary and slow-moving traffic, especially with all the road works we have at the moment.
The “cliques” mentioned by one lady writer would have been due to the fact there was a five-day motorcycle rally at Brighstone, over the bank holiday weekend.
However, the stubbornness and rudeness reported by some Randonnee cyclists is another issue.
These cyclists who came over from the mainland need to realise people on the Island have to go about their business, even on a bank holiday.
So every care must be taken to let traffic pass, and too abide by the law in accordance with the road markings otherwise anarchy rules.
