From Phil Nettleton, Ryde:

It is instructive to note Ryde School had their appeal against the IW Council rejected because the planning inspector concluded: “the proposal would fail to preserve the character and appearance and thus the significance of the conservation area…the public benefits would not outweigh this harm, and so the proposal would conflict with (IW) policies DM2, DM11 and SP5 of the core strategy and the framework”.

One has to wonder why the local planning authority and the council planning committee now support an application which proposes a building of near identical dimension. Time for a rethink perhaps?
