From W. H. Bromwich, Cowes:

Having listening to the, What is future for IW health services? debate I can’t help but acknowledge how neatly the journey to this point has been choreographed.

Having driven many of St Mary’s services into crisis, conditions are now ripe to slice up what remains and divide it among the private sector.

The IW NHS dermatology service is already subcontracted to Lighthouse Medical Ltd. Hospital staff are increasingly being provided by private sector agencies. Much of St Mary’s patient rehabilitation will soon to be outsourced to private sector care home providers. Terminally ill patients, estimated to have less than three years to live, will come under Mountbatten’s care. Many medical specialisms will move to the mainland. When the sleepy IW awakes, people will say, whatever happened to our hospital? And those who engineered its demise will, no doubt, also be long gone...job done.
