From W. H. Bromwich, Cowes:
As the NHS celebrates its 70th anniversary it is rightfully time for reflection. There are 135 acute non-specialist trusts in the UK, each with a leadership team earning the same as our Prime Minister, and in some cases considerably more…and all this while many nurses have to rely on food banks. It’s a complete absurdity. Frankly, there is something deeply wrong with our society.
As substantially more funding for the NHS is announced, the entrepreneurial vultures are circling ready to snatch and divert public money into the coffers of the private sector.
The simple truth is our NHS is currently grossly over managed by those with agendas that go way beyond simply providing high quality health care. It requires massive reform at the very top to ensure precious resources and public funding reaches the clinical areas in which it is desperately needed.
