From R. C. Thomas, Freshwater:

Am I the only one not to share in the misguided “outrage” regarding Wightlink’s profits?

Companies need money to function, and if people are prepared to invest theirs, rather than keep it in useless banks, then it can be a good thing.

Over the past few years Wightlink have ploughed back profits at Portsmouth and Fishbourne in the form of upgrades to terminals and ferries, resulting in improved travel on these routes.

However, as a frequent user of the Yarmouth to Lymington route, hopefully it will soon be our turn for an upgrade on their ferries which is much needed.

The crew members are always very helpful but travel on that route, with luggage, is not a pleasant experience.

So, how about it Wightlink? A ferry route with proper luggage storage, a decent lift and shallower stairs would be very welcome in the West Wight.

Incidentally I am not a shareholder, and aside from being a long-suffering passenger on aforesaid Yarmouth route, I have no connection with Wightlink.
