When I wrote to the Secretary of State for Transport to demand answers about the sale of Wightlink, I did so because it was in the interest of Islanders.
I wanted to register my concern the ferry companies are bought and sold without regard to our interests, despite the two main firms running a near monopoly.
I did this to make sure any future owners understand they need to improve Wightlink’s relationship with Islanders and to be more supportive of the Island’s agenda.
I am sure everyone who works for Wightlink would echo that call.
Every Islander without a political axe to grind with whom I have spoken supports my call for the ferries to be more responsive to the needs of the Island and to offer a better deal for the Island.
Let me make my own agenda very clear: I was elected to fight for the Island and to speak for it. That’s what I am doing.
