TAKE your own vinyl along to be played at a new music night at Ventnor Winter Gardens.

Human Jukebox is the brainchild of Alex Lee, who has moved from the Manchester scene down to the Island.

The first night takes place on Thursday, May 17 and is free to enter — just pay to play.

Everyone is welcome and all genres and eras of music are acceptable.

Alex said: "I’m dipping my toe in the water on the Island, so rather than put on a niche genre or era-driven night which would only appeal to a few people I’ve gone for an all-inclusive approach.

"I’m currently selling vinyl at three different markets on the Island, so putting on a vinyl-driven night, where everyone can bring their own and play it, thus sharing their love of music with others, seems the obvious next step.

"Hopefully it will become a regular fixture and I might even be able to tour the event as it’s not venue-specific, despite Ventnor Winter Gardens being a wonderful art deco building.

"In summary, the night’s just like a pub with a jukebox, except the customers have more control over what gets played. It could be the only night in the world where you’ll hear classical followed by death metal, followed by pop, followed by reggae, followed by techno and so on."
