ORGANISERS tapped into something special at the inaugural One Life Festival.

They uncovered a need for a music festival specifically for adults with learning disabilities.

They expected about 250 people, but 700 turned up, and the feedback was described as phenomenal.

The festival took place at Tapnell Farm on Wednesday, June 6, with live acts provided by Platform One.

The event was organised by Paul Elvins and Barrie Wade. Barrie said: "It was exceptional, better than we could have ever predicted.

"We had phenomenal feedback, it was immense, and it seems the festival was just what was needed, and we were bowled over by the community spirit."

Barrie said there had been several inspiring success stories of people overcoming difficulties, such as a man who in five years had only shuffled a few paces, but got up and danced at the festival.

Meetings are already scheduled, to discuss the feasibility of putting on the event again.

Funding came from Isle Learn, with support from multiple local businesses and volunteers.
