From Rob Barton, Adgestone:
I would like to thank the NHS, which was there when I needed it.
On the afternoon of August 2, I had a heart attack at home.
I was shown the professionalism of the entire emergency service, starting with the lady who took the 999 call, sent the ambulance and advised me to take the famous aspirin.
Angela and Steve arrived in no time and confirmed I was having a heart attack.
They tried to call the helicopter but to no avail due to being grounded by weather.
Angela explained what she was going to do and I feel sure I owe her a great deal.
With all sorts of drugs administered, Steve transferred me from Adgestone to St Mary’s in 20 minutes.
I was shaken up on arrival at A&E but all chest pain had gone.
After several hours of being monitored, I was transferred to the Queen Alexander Hospital in Portsmouth by coastguard helicopter.
By 9.30am the next day, the problem had been identified and fixed with a stent.
I was very lucky, so many thanks to the NHS, all the people work in it, and a special thanks to Angela, Steve, Darren and The A&E team.
