From Theresa Mercer, Sandown:
What a beautiful sandy beach Sandown is.
It was wonderful to see the beach packed with locals who’d hired huts for the summer or, like our family, for the week.
They were enjoying the great weather.
And what a great display at Sandown Regatta by the lifeboat/rescue service. What a grand job they do at sea and inshore.
Then we went to use the toilets at the bottom of the slope, down from the library and below and in front of the old Sandown Hotel.
They were dark and very run-down. What must the visitors think?
Will the wonderful sandy beach bring them back?
The toilets were very messy and nasty, unlike Shanklin loos near the mini golf, which are clean and much newer.
Come on Sandown Town Council, Islanders and visitors alike deserve better.
