From Mark Styles, Whitwell:

I was pleased to see the new 20mph speed limit that has recently come into force through Godshill, it surely was long overdue and makes total sense, credit to the Isle of Wight Council for this one.

All in all, it’s a great move for pedestrian safety, however, what does beggar belief is the new 30mph signs at the entrance to School Crescent. They are absolutely ridiculous and a total waste of taxpayers’ money.

Do the powers that be really consider it safe to reach speeds of up to 30mph on this estate? This area is heavily congested, with very limited vision for drivers due to the amount of cars parked on the roadside, but of more importance, children who play in the area.

The sooner someone at the council sees sense and removes them the better, hopefully before someone is seriously hurt.
