What makes Isle of Wight Radio and Isle of Wight County Press think that a competition to draw a poster will encourage a litter-free Island?

This photo was taken yesterday on the edge of the playing fields at the Bay School. It is a very small sample of a litter-covered circumference to the playing fields adjacent to Sandown Rugby Club.

The school should be ashamed of itself. Why on earth don't they make pupils on detention pick this up and punish any students seen dropping litter? It is quite incredible to see how irresponsible teachers or school management and the older students are in the drive to improve our plastic waste situation.

Editor’s footnote: The logo is about being aware of plastic use, not just litter, although, of course, the two are intertwined.

We recently highlighted a similar issue at Christ the King College and the school acted on our information.
