From John Harry, East Cowes:

I AM seriously concerned about the number of landslips that have occurred over recent times along public footpath N122 (between the Folly Inn and Island Harbour).

More importantly, I am worried about the possible dangers to individuals in the event of more landslips and to the loss of private land (part of a residential park home site) bordering the footpath.

So far the only ‘repairs’ carried out have consisted of wooden bridging sections, which are no better than temporary solutions, are expensive and do nothing to address the real issue, which is to reverse the present erosion of the bank and to prevent further instances.

I believe money should be earmarked to do the job properly now, because all that has been spent on the bridges so far will be wasted, as will that spent on any further temporary patching up.

This seems short sighted and irresponsible on all levels.
