VENTNOR Film Society launches its spring programme of films from the UK and around the world next week.

"This season, we have a few more English language films than usual, but we will also be screening recent award-winners from France, Brazil and Japan," said Linda Davis, of Ventnor Film Society.

"With black comedy, family drama, arty autobiography and social satire, we have put together a programme with something for everyone — in English and in the original languages, with subtitles.

"The group will continue, as ever, to screen its films over two evenings — Tuesdays and Wednesdays — but due to live screenings at Ventnor Arts Club, some will be shown on one day during that week."—

The new programme gets under way with acclaimed Brazilian drama, Aquarius, and will also include Cezanne et Moi, Gauguin: Voyage de Tahiti, Hirokazu Koreeda's After The Storm, The Party, starring Kristin Scott-Thomas, The Florida Project, Happy End and I Am Not A Witch — the debut movie from Welsh-Zambian director, Rungano Nyoni, which was a hit at Cannes last year.

"Everyone is welcome to come along and there is no membership or any need to be a member of Ventnor Arts Club to attend our screenings," added Linda.

Information about this season's programme will be found in the County Press movie round up and the society's website http://ventnorfilmsociety.wix.com/vfilms
