WATER supplies should return to Ryde properties by about 1.30pm today (Monday), following a pipe burst.

A 12" water main in Ashey Road burst, which meant Southern Water had to temporarily shut off supplies to up to 100 properties in the area.

"Supplies should return within half an hour and we would urge customers to avoid the area while our crew works to repair as safely as possible," the company advised.

"We would like to thank everyone for their patience while we carry out this emergency work and please keep checking our online pages for updates."

If supplies are not restored shortly, Southern Water will arrange for bottled water to be distributed to those affected.
