Fairweather Festival has announced the first acts set to appear at its 2018 event.

Headlining the main stage on Friday, August 31 is platinum-selling rapper Example and DJ Wire.

With 13 top 40 singles to his name, including two number ones, Example has had a career spanning over a decade and is sure to get the crowd bouncing at Fairweather Festival. Fans can expect to hear hits like Changed the Way You Kiss Me, Stay Awake, Say Nothing, Kickstarts and many more.

Joining Example and DJ Wire on the Friday night is Grammy-award winning artist and the undisputed voice of the club, Fatman Scoop. The American hype man achieved global success with his hit Be Faithful, which can still be heard in clubs today.

With the Saturday headliner still to be announced, the rest of Saturday's line-up will feature X Factor winner and chart star Matt Terry and The South, featuring former members of the iconic English pop group, The Beautiful South.

Completing the first announcement is one of Britain's top dance cover bands, Rhythm of the 90s. The south coast-based band have performed to tens of thousands of people at festivals across the country and will be bringing their party to The Den stage on the Friday of Fairweather Festival.

It was recently announced that Fairweather Festival will be taking place in its new home at Sandown Airport this year, allowing for free parking, a later curfew and brand new stages.

This year, 'the festival for better mental health' is partnered with the Isle of Wight Youth Trust to raise vital awareness and important funds to sustain their outstanding services for the future.

Founder and promoter Callum Fairweather said: "I'm super excited to announce the first wave of acts for Fairweather Festival 2018 - it's true, we are going bigger and better. I'm ecstatic that one of my childhood heroes, Example, has agreed to headline our brand-new Friday night.

"There's truly something for everyone this year, with acts ranging from Fatman Scoop and Rhythm of the 90s to Matt Terry and The South.

"We can't wait to reveal our Saturday headliner soon and look forward to supporting the Isle of Wight Youth Trust and the tremendous mental health services they deliver on the Island. See you at the Airport."
