A PLEA for the speed limit to be reduced in Blackwater has been made by parish councillors.
Arreton Parish Council said the limit at Blackwater Hollow - between the junction with the main Blackwater Road and the start of the national limit - should be reduced from 40mph to 30mph.
Clerk Sheila Caws said: "It's mainly because of the cycle track, it's a bit of a blind bend where it crosses the road."
She said the issue would likely be exacerbated by the building of a new car showroom, as reported, which would lead to an increase in traffic.
The request for a new speed limit will be submitted to the Isle of Wight Council for consideration.
