ALAN Marriott has been appointed publisher and editor of the Isle of Wight County Press.
Alan, who is currently editor, has been promoted with immediate effect.
Having joined the paper as sports editor in 1984, Alan held a number of editorial production roles before being appointed editor in April 2007.
He started his journalistic career as a trainee reporter at the Chester Observer in 1980.
Alan will report in to Vincent Boni, managing director of Newsquest Hampshire, who said: “I am delighted to see Alan step up to this important role. He has a love of Island life, business and, of course, a commitment to maintain the quality and values of the County Press as we cultivate the digital opportunities for local enterprise.”
Alan said: “We have a great, committed staff here at the County Press and I look forward to managing them as we create a new model under Newsquest ownership.”
David Thornton remains as the Isle of Wight County Press’s advertising director.
