YARMOUTH Road was closed this morning (Wednesday) while crews cleared mud from the surface.
Island Roads said extensive cleaning was needed as the mud was dangerous for drivers.
The road was closed from the junction with Betty Haunt Lane to the junction of Elm Lane.
Traffic was diverted via Elm Lane, Sun Hill, Calbourne Road, and Betty Haunt Lane.
Work is ongoing.
* The road has now re-opened.
