FROM shadow puppets to a bus transformed into a bookshop, from award-winning folk music to outdoor cinema screenings - Ventnor Fringe organisers have revealed some of the entertainment on offer when the festival returns next month.
Held at venues across the town, between August 8 and August 13, the festival coincides with the Ventnor International Festival, a new event produced by the same team, which will include performances from acts including Childhood, The Parrots, Cosmo Pyke, Girl Ray and CHAMPS.
Festival director Jack Whitewood said: "From yoga in the park each morning to DJ's on the harbour at sunset, the Ventnor Fringe is an opportunity to completely re-imagine how we use our urban spaces, and aims to make one of our Island towns come alive like never before. Get down to the south coast and re-discover Ventnor, it's becoming a really special place."
Former Noah and the Whale frontman Matt Owens will return to the Isle of Wight with his band Little Mammoths, having already played this year's Glastonbury.
There will be an outdoor screening of the Oscar smash La La Land as well as a 1930s Parisian bus, which has been transformed into a bookshop.
Isle of Wight record label Chalkpit Records is to a host a gig in a warehouse and writers Joan Ellis and Donna Jones will bring their new show False Teeth to the Ventnor Winter Gardens Long Room.
BBC Young Folk Award winner Brighde Chaimbeul will perform at St Catherine's Church, in a gig organised by Isle of Wight promoters Vaguely Sunny.
And the eclectic entertainment continues with The Adventures of Prince Achmed. The shadow puppet show features live traditional Arabian music to tell a fairytale based on The Arabian Nights.
London's String Theatre is also set to perform its new marionette show The Water Babies.
