PROTESTERS gathered in Newport to stand up against the bombing of Syria last night (Monday).
Islanders were invited to join the gathering in St Thomas's Square in condemnation of the UK government ordering its armed forces to bomb Syria.
Speaking at the rally, Green Party politician Vix Lowthion, said: "One of the reasons we did not have a nuclear war in 1962 was because we had JFK and Khrushchev who were leading the western nations. They were fearful of getting involved in a situation that would escalate into a full-on nuclear war.
"I don't see that fear in our international leaders. I don't see that fear of a devastating nuclear war in Donald Trump and Theresa May and I don't see that fear in Putin. And this is why I really worry."
