THE team at Caffe Isola, Newport, is striving to help coffee growers, during UK Coffee Week.

The week, which runs until Sunday, is a nationwide celebration of coffee, one of the largest industries in the world.

Caffe Isola will host an evening of coffee tasting and entertainment tonight (Thursday), raising money for the Coffee Week charity, Project Waterfall, which brings clean drinking water and sanitation to coffee-growing communities around the world.

A spokesman said: “Over 500 billion cups of coffee are consumed globally each year, and every one of those cups is an opportunity to make a difference.

“The coffee industry and coffee drinkers have the power to make a real and positive impact on the communities that grow our coffee. Access to clean water can break the cycle of poverty. Clean water not only improves the health and well-being of communities facing the global water crisis; it also means greater access to education, income and ultimately a better life.”
