STAFF, children and parents at Gatten and Lake Childcare are celebrating after the nursery was hailed 'outstanding' by Ofsted.

Inspectors said the nursery was outstanding in all areas, praising the leadership team and the quality of teaching.

They said leaders were 'exceptionally strong' and meticulously reviewed their practice and made comprehensive plans for further improvements.

Staff were found to encourage children's learning at every opportunity, by asking questions and urging them to think of solutions.

They were described as warm and caring, and praised for creating a welcoming environment and helping children settle quickly.

The standard of teaching was found to be exceptionally high and children's behaviour 'exemplary.'

Inspectors said children were polite and courteous, said 'please' and 'thank you' as they played and reminded each other to share and to listen when others were talking.

In order to improve even further, the nursery was advised to develop the outdoor area.

Nursery manager Tracy Butcher said: "The success is all down to our brilliant staff who are dedicated to their work."
