A PAINTING by a local artist and a bottle of House of Commons whisky, signed by David Cameron, were among the items raffled off for the Wessex Cancer Trust's Daisy Bus Appeal.

The raffle and charity quiz night at Shanklin Conservative Club, hosted by quiz master Paul Jenner, raised £1,042 to fund the Daisy Bus, a free service to transport Isle of Wight cancer patients to hospital appointments on the mainland.

More than 70 raffle prizes were donated by club members and staff, and by Isle of Wight businesses. Artist Bob Bull donated a painting of Sandown Bay.

Last Sunday's fundraiser was organised by Nicola Duffield, who works at the club, and Coryn Harbour, who used to work there.

Nicola said: "Both Coryn and I lost our dads to cancer. It's something that touches everyone and we felt it was really important."
