FOLLOWING their transatlantic rowing challenge, the ‘ocean brothers’ had the pleasure of joining the Queen at the first garden party of the year at Buckingham Palace.

The successful duo, Greg Bailey and Jude Massey, were invited to the event by Princess Alexandra, patron of the British Skin Foundation, which benefited from the record-breaking row.

Greg said: “It was an incredible and spectacular day at Buckingham Palace, an honour to see the royal family and meet Prince Edward, on such a beautiful sunny day.

“The gardens are stunning and it’s a day we will remember for the rest of our lives. We are proud to have been fortunate enough to have had the opportunity.”

The brothers wore morning suits provided free of charge by Island business Osbornes.

The Seaview pair crossed the Atlantic earlier this year, completing a 3,000-mile unsupported row in 53 days, setting a Guinness World Record, and Jude became the youngest person to have rowed any ocean in a team of two.

The pair are a few pounds short of the £100,000 they are aiming to raise for skin cancer research, in memory of Peter Massey, Jude’s father and Greg’s stepfather, Peter Massey, who died in 2015.
