LAMBRETTA and Vespa riders will be getting ready for the annual Isle of Wight Lambretta Day on Sunday.

Vintage and modern bikes are all welcome to the event which will start with a ride out at 12noon from The Riverside Centre, Newport, and head to Ryde's Pavilion Bar on the seafront.

The day was established in 1999 to launch Lambretta clothing at local store, Visual Impact, and 20 scooters attended.

Over the following 19 years, the event has grown to expect 300 scooters including solo riders and clubs from the Island and beyond.

There will be DJs, a beer tent and a barbecue to accompany the judging for the best turnout scooter club, best Lambretta, best vintage Lambretta and best overall scooter.

Liam Hodge, Ska Fever Mod, Ska and Soul DJs, The Hi Watts the WHO and Orange Street Two Tone are some of the artists who will perform throughout the afternoon and evening.

There is free entry before 6pm and £6 after, tickets on the door or in advance from here or in paper from the Visual Impact shop and Ryde Superbowl.

A free entry pre-Lambretta Day warm up party will also be held at Ryde Pavillion on Saturday with Ska Fever Djs and popular IW band, X-Directory.
