ISLE of Wight MP Bob Seely has tweeted out against the President of the US Donald Trump.

In what Mr Seely has branded a 'tongue in cheek' tweet, the MP said:

Isle of Wight County Press:

Mr Seely's reaction comes after Donald Trump fired off a string of angry tweets criticising his closest allies hours after leaving a divisive G7 summit early.

Trump rescinded his signature from the joint communique (that leaders from Canada, the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Japan had signed) following remarks from Canadian President Trudeau.

Tensions are already high between the countries due to the imposing of US tariffs on Aluminium and Steel.

Mr Seely said: "It was a jokey tweet. I do think he is a bad role model but I find it hard to hold my tongue when he is being moronic.

"There's an argument to say MPs should be respectful, but its hard when I don't think he deserves that."

His parliamentary assistant, Oscar Bicket, told Mr Seely to delete the tweet, but Mr Seely said that he didn't always have to listen to him.

"I am holding firm, for the moment", he said.
