ISLANDERS took to the streets of London to celebrate NHS70.

Members of the Isle of Wight Save our NHS campaign attended a celebration and demonstration organised by the People’s Assembly and Health Campaigns Together, held in London on June 30.

Christine Lightbody, from Isle of Wight Save our NHS, said: “A group of Islanders braved the sizzling temperatures to travel to London to celebrate 70 years of the NHS, but tens of thousands of campaigners from across the country also vowed to continue their fight to save this wonderful public service from being dismantled, privatised and sold off.”

Members of the group also visited towns across the Island last week, gathering signatures on a giant hand-made birthday card to celebrate the NHS.

The card was then presented at the Past, Present, Future NHS event on Wednesday.
