A SMALL Isle of Wight charity has been given £650 thanks to the support of two schools.

The Isle of Wight Association for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus (ASBAH) was given £300 by Barton Primary School, Newport, which held several fundraising events.

Additionally, St Anthony’s School in Watford, Hertfordshire, which hosts annual school trips to the Island, organised by The Isle of Wight Experience, wanted to donate money to an local charity. They chose Isle of Wight ASBAH to receive £358.37 raised at a 'wear your slippers to school' day.

Anne Axford, Isle of Wight ASBAH chair, said: "As a small, local charity, with a big voice, we are working hard to be heard and to make sure that Islanders know we are here to support them.

"We recently connected with a West Wight family with an eight-year-old with Spina Bifida who had not realised we were here.

"We want Islanders to spread the word that we are here to help."
