PROGRESS and achievement was celebrated at St George's School, Newport.

The Isle of Wight special school held its annual achievers' evening to honour students transitioning into sixth form and those leaving the school.

Visiting guests included Sharon Bradley and Sue Moore, both former teachers at the school, who attended the event to present the main prizes.

Darren O'Sullivan and Lisa Hendy of Novum Law presented the Novum Law Award Cup for best community spirit, and Michele Newton of Vectis Sunrise Rotary Club presented the cup for outstanding art.

Headteacher Sue Holman awarded the headteacher's award to three students this year — Abigail Rogers, Jacob Evans and Anna Constable — for their progress and achievement throughout their time at St George's.

Parents were able to share and celebrate their children's achievements and gather for refreshments made by the students following the event.
