A NEW go-karting attraction for the Isle of Wight is coming to Sandown this summer.

Sandham Karts is a £60,000 addition to the seafront aimed at families with children aged 12 and under.

Up to six battery-powered, electric go-karts will be able to race each other around a 200m long track, situated next to the boating lake, overlooking Sandown beach.

The new attraction represents the latest phase of development at Sandham Gardens carried out by Heritage Attractions Ltd, operator of The Needles Landmark Attraction, and will complement a new high-ropes course, recently given the go-ahead by the Isle of Wight Council.

Marino Zanti, general manager of the new Sandham Gardens development, said: "We’re pleased to be close to completing the next stage of our plans for Sandown.

"There’s much more to come and the continued redevelopment of Sandham Gardens will bring more jobs to the area, complement the beach and existing tourism attractions while also encouraging more visitors to the town.

"We can’t wait to see locals and holidaymakers alike burning rubber around our new track later in the summer."
