NEWPORT couple, Ann and John Langley, had a date with the stars on Monday this week.

They went to a showing of the long awaited sequel to the hit movie Mama Mia in the Eventim Apollo Theatre in Hammersmith with their daughter, Donna who just happens to also be the chair of Universal Pictures.

They sat behind stars of the film, Pierce Brosnan and Lily James and chatted with Judy Cramer, the driving force behind the stage musical and the two films.

John said: "She told us that her trust in Donna’s handling of the movie production was 100%. She said she wouldn’t have let anyone else do what Donna has achieved.

"And there were thanks given to Donna, too, from TV’s Lorraine who introduced the cast to the audience before the showing began."

He added: "We were seated at the second row in of the Circle, just behind Pierce Brosnan and Lily James. Most of the rest of the principal cast were in that front row and cheered and clapped as story developed.

"Lily James was wearing a blue and white floor-length dress and as we all pressed into the theatre Ann accidentally stood on the hem of the flowing gown and only realised it just before Lily moved forward. Mama Mia, it could have been the faux pas of the event should the offending foot not have been removed in time.

"At the party afterwards we mingled with the excited crowd of invited guests and spent ages meeting up with all the good and the great from Hollywood.

"The film’s general release is on this Friday and will be showing in Newport where Ann is taking some of her friends to see it at Cineworld. We recommend Islanders go too and enjoy a wonderful feel-good occasion."
